Vitali spent his professional years inside FMCG, most of them in parallel trade. The job is concrete: find the same SKU priced lower in one EU member state than another, work out the true landed cost (unit price + pallet economics + road or sea freight + handling + risk), and move volume quickly before the arbitrage closes. Margins are thin. Timing matters. Exposure of your supplier or route to a competitor ends a deal.

For that work, the tools available were poor. Faire and Ankorstore are built for boutique retailers buying artisan brands — the opposite of what an FMCG parallel-trade operator needs. Alibaba is a generic global B2B directory with scam risk and Asian supply that rarely fits EU parallel lanes. e-FMCG and FMCG Land are FMCG-vertical but operate as directories, without AI offer ranking or landed-cost math. And every one of them either charged commission on deals or surfaced supplier identity in ways that burned the route.

The gap that kept showing up: no platform actually thought about sourcing the way a parallel-trade operator thinks about sourcing. Which is: give me the total cost, show me fast, keep my route private, and don't take a slice of my already-thin margin.
